Coordinator, Writer & Publisher Relations | Samples & Adaptations

$22 - $25 / hr

Job description

We are seeking a Coordinator to join our Writer & Publisher Relations team in Los Angeles. Kobalt’s Writer and Publisher Relations team manages publisher and writer client accounts by serving as the administrative point of contact for any related queries. This new Coordinator role will assist in handling a wide range of administrative tasks relating to the management of Kobalt’s sample licensing workflow for its clients. This role will suit a detail-oriented, confident and flexible team player with strong communications skills, who is comfortable communicating with senior colleagues and external clients.

Responsibilities

  • You provide direct support to the Sr. Manager, Writer & Publisher Relations | Samples & Adaptations with scheduled administrative tasks as it relates to sample licensing and infringement.
  • You develop and maintain relationships between Kobalt and its publishing clients.
  • You research existing compositions ahead of the approval process and assist with usage confirmations and new composition ingestion.
  • You work with Kobalt's creative teams and clients to ensure that all necessary clearances are obtained for new compositions.
  • You develop and maintain relationships with third-party clearance services and music industry professionals.
  • You work closely with Kobalt's legal and finance teams to ensure that all necessary paperwork and payments are completed for sample clearance, including invoices and fully executed licenses.
  • You provide guidance and support to Kobalt's creative teams on sample clearance and licensing issues.
  • You assist in maintaining accurate records and reports of all sample clearance activity.
  • You stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices for sample clearance and licensing.
  • You work cross-functionally with Kobalt’s Operations department to support the accurate production and distribution of client royalty statements, developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of Kobalt’s services, and its internal systems and operations.
  • You field questions from and supply information relating to client accounts and internal operations to other departments within the business.
  • You assist with additional ad hoc tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • You have previous relevant music administration and/or music publishing experience as well as a strong interest in sample licensing and adaptations.
  • You have strong organization and prioritization skills with an ability to remain calm under pressure and complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • You are an excellent communicator-both written and verbal as well as an adaptable team-player who is confident working in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • You must display a high level of trust and integrity as you are exposed to confidential information and unreleased audio.
