General Manager
Job description
The General Manager (GM) of Kobalt Music Scandinavia is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving the growth and success of Kobalt's music services business across the Scandinavian region (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland). The GM will lead a dynamic team to sign, develop, and service a diverse roster of songwriters, artists, and music publishers, while ensuring Kobalt's position as a leading innovator in the music industry.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive regional strategy that aligns with Kobalt's global vision and goals.
- Identify and capitalize on market trends and opportunities to expand Kobalt's presence and influence in Scandinavia
- Cultivate strong relationships with key industry stakeholders, including artists, songwriters, publishers, labels, collecting societies, and digital service providers
- Oversee, manage and drive business development within Scandinavia, sourcing and identifying creators, publishers and copyrights to sign
- Manage advance spend and investments in order to drive NPS
- Oversee the successful onboarding and integration of new clients.
- Drive creative collaboration and maximize the commercial potential of Kobalt's catalog
- Manage project priorities and resource investments
- Ensure a consistent and best-in-class customer-first mindset, maintaining and building trust with clients
- Build and manage a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence
- Mentor and develop staff to reach their full potential
- Develop and oversee a marketing strategy for the Kobalt brand in the Scandinavian market
- Drive revenue growth in the Scandinavian markets
- Facilitate functional alignment between local team and company-wide teams to improve workflow, collaboration and efficiency
- Ensure proactive and effective interaction with Kobalt departments across all offices including Creative, Finance, Business Affairs, Publishing Operations, Writer & Publisher Relations and the People teams
- Achieve regional revenue targets and profitability goals.
- Provide regular reports on financial performance, key metrics, and market insights.
Requirements
- Proven success in a Senior Leadership/Executive capacity
- Proven experience of having worked in a similar capacity
- Strong decision-making ability
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skills
- Proven ability to develop and achieve financial plans/goals
- Ability to motivate and lead employees, and hold them accountable
- Strong working knowledge of operational procedures
- Understanding of Music Publishing
- Understanding of Deal management
- Experience of driving regional revenue targets
- Experience managing budgeting and resources effectively
